"Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment."
- Dr. Maria Montessori
Our vibrant and fun pre-schools and kindergartens are focused on your child's experience. We believe every child is an expert in their own learning process and it is our responsibility as educators to simply facilitate the child's natural curiosity in a play-based environment. House on the Hill is a place where creativity is encouraged, compassion is modelled and independence is fostered.
To be a leading Montessori early childhood educator that ensures every child's talents are nurtured in a warm, open and fun environment.
To make every day a special day for the children by being passionate about what we do, by understanding each child's unique development path, and by ensuring that learning is always fun.
To be a pillar of support for parents by instilling confidence, providing specific feedback on your child, offering opportunities to participate in activities run by the centre and sharing access to all our resources on child development.
"The environment itself will teach the child, if every error he makes is manifest to him, without the intervention of a parent or teacher, who should remain a quiet observer of all that happens."-Dr Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind.
House on the Hill is a fully Montessori-based school, exemplifying the central elements of the Montessori method.
• Child-Centred. We focus on each child's individual path, allowing them to master skills and abilities at their own pace in a way that fits their interests and needs. Teachers act as guides to the children on their self-directed learning journey; helping them to engage with appropriate activities and to challenge themselves increasingly as they progress.
• Prepared Environment. Our warm and inviting space is designed to be aesthetically pleasing, organized and accessible. Manipulatives and equipment are specially-designed to be self-correcting, so that children perceive on their own what works and what doesn't.
• Social Harmony. Our school is a community where children acquire the social skills necessary to participate as citizens of a multi-cultural, harmonious society. Children of different ages are integrated, creating a cooperative environment where young ones learn from the example of their older counterparts, who consequently learn by mentoring their younger classmates.
