Discover the magic of Montessori

We know deciding on childcare and early education is a huge task. Whether you’re returning to work after parental leave, or getting your preschooler ready for learning, we know this choice is important to you, and we’re here to help.

Formerly Nan Hua Girls’ School, this beautiful 3-storey conservation building houses the spacious classrooms of House on the Hill Montessori. With plenty of natural light, the idyllic campus is perfect for families in the Mount Sophia and Mount Emily areas.

Located right in the centre of Pasir Panjang Road above the Post Office, the distinct feature of this House on the Hill campus is its verdant garden and expansive playground. Children will love playing under the shade of our beloved mango tree.

Nestled in the lush and calm surroundings of the Hollandse Club, House on the Hill boasts an inspirational learning environment. Our campus, with an all-cedar wood playground in a dedicated outdoor space, is situated just off Adam Road in Bukit Timah and is open to members and non-members.

Nurture your little one’s development as early as 2-17 months old with House on the Hill Nido, or “nest” in Italian. Support them during this crucial stage of growth with the help of our highly trained teachers and a safe and stimulating environment.

Situated in central Singapore, our Newton campus is a treat to your child’s senses. Let your child be surrounded by greenery, plenty of outdoor space, and state-of-the-art teaching aides to enrich the Montessori way of learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

House on the Hill Montessori emphasises a child-centric approach that supports independence and freedom within limits. Unlike traditional preschools that may follow a more structured, adult-led curriculum, Montessori education encourages children to choose their activities and learn through hands-on experience at their own pace, fostering a sense of responsibility and critical thinking. We instil strong language and mathematical skills to prepare your child for their next step in local or international schools.

While the ideal starting age can vary depending on individual development, House on the Hill Montessori offers programmes starting from infancy, recognising that early years are a critical period for developing a foundation for lifelong learning.

House on the Hill follows the Montessori curriculum and is tailored to ensure children are well-rounded and have a solid foundation in all subjects necessary for academic and life success. It is centred on a hands-on experiential learning approach and is designed to cater to your child’s holistic development.

The curriculum includes Practical Life, Language, Mandarin, Sensorial, Phonics, Mathematics, Culture and Geography, creative expression, and social awareness to nurture independent learning and critical thinking skills.

We also have a Mandarin programme aimed at building a solid foundation for students to listen to, speak, read, and write in Mandarin.

House on the Hill Montessori maintains a low teacher-to-child ratio, allowing personalised attention and guidance. This setup is especially beneficial for our mixed-age classes, a unique feature among House on the Hill Montessori schools that encourages peer learning among different age groups.

Mandarin is a vital part of the House on the Hill curriculum alongside its English curriculum enhancing language acquisition from an early age. We strive to instil a love of the language for each child through engaging and stimulating lessons that will help them achieve a native level of fluency by the time they graduate. Through an immersive and joyful learning experience, your child will be able to listen, read, write, and speak in Mandarin. And will prepare your child for primary school 1 readiness and comprehension.

We also offer a Japanese optional program. This is available once a week at our Balmoral and Mount Sophia schools.

One of the premium offerings of House on the Hill is our bespoke menu plan. From the daily menu of delicious and nutritious food to healthy eating for life-long habits and emotional understanding, our children’s well-being is always prioritised. Developed by a renowned nutritionist, our menu is freshly cooked, and nutritionally balanced, with strictly no added sugar or salt. We are teaching children to choose and appreciate healthy food in the future. It goes beyond eating, children also learn about etiquette and social interactions through food.

Tuition fees can vary depending on the programme and age group. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please don’t hesitate to contact any of our locations for detailed fee schedules.

We also offer subsidy options. Balmoral Crescent holds an Infant and Childcare Licence, offering subsidies of $600 for infant care and $300 for child care. Both Mount Sophia and Hollandse Club have a Childcare Licence with a $300 subsidy. Pasir Panjang, which has a Kindergarten Licence, does not offer subsidies. These subsidies are available for any Singapore Citizen child enrolled in an ECDA-licensed centre but are limited to basic subsidies; additional income-based subsidies may not apply.
